Statement of Need
In cases of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), timely restoration of adequate blood flow to the affected area of the brain is essential in achieving favorable patient outcomes. However, data from large hospital-based registries demonstrate widespread underuse of guideline-recommended thrombolysis in appropriate patients, as well as delays in the administration of thrombolytic therapy when indicated.
Target Audience
This activity is intended for primary care clinicians, emergency medicine specialists, interventional radiologists, neurologists, nurses, and other clinicians who care for patients with acute ischemic stroke.
The goal of this activity is to provide medical news to primary care clinicians and other healthcare professionals in order to enhance patient care.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, you should be able to:
- Assess the application of recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator in the management of acute ischemic stroke.
- Evaluate new recommendations for the endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke.
