Statement of Need

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and affects over 23.6 million people in the United States - 7.8 percent of the population.  This program will take a deeper look into the common medications used to treat patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  Differences in outcomes among patients are also discussed, with an emphasis on strategies to overcome challenges to treatment.
 

Target Audience

This activity is intended to address the needs of physicians and other healthcare personnel (nurses, RNs, PAs, etc.) involved in the treatment of patients with type 2 diabetes.

The goal of this activity is to provide medical news to primary care clinicians and other healthcare professionals in order to enhance patient care.
 

Educational Objectives

Afer completing this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Explain the strong inheritable genetic connection in type 2 diabetes
  2. Describe the current, and presumably latest, healthcare guidelines and diagnostic/treatment mandates for presentations of type 2 diabetes
  3. Discuss other factors, in addition to genetics, which play a large part in the development of type 2 diabetes
